Sean Adams is the founder of various music websites including The Quietus, Thrash Hits, and most notably Drowned in Sound. The latter was one of the original music blogs and online music communities when it launched back in the year 2000.
15 years on, this pioneering website remains under Adams’ stewardship and now has over 3 million visitors a year. Adams was responsible for DiS’ award-winning music podcasts that was recently rebooted, as well as A&Ring its independent label which launched the careers of – amongst others – Kaiser Chiefs, Bat for Lashes, and Martha Wainwright (selling over 80k of her debut album) before moving into artist management, reinvigorating the career of Ed Harcourt. Alongside the site, he also consults a range of companies, including PIAS, where he curates the weekly #IndependentMusicMonday playlist.
Previously, Adams has also been a columnist for The Sunday Times, worked in record shops, promoted gigs and he’s judged various awards including the AIM Independent Music Awards and The Scottish Album of the Year. Factory Records’ Anthony H. Wilson once called him a “visionary” which means more to him than any award ever could.
